Kentucky Watercolor

The Kentucky Watercolor Society was formed in 1977 to promote water media
as an important medium in the arts community and provide support and
educational opportunities for water media artists. To that end, KWS sponsors
exhibitions, competitions and workshops for professional, hobbyist, and beginning
artists. The Kentucky Watercolor Society is a non-profit, nationally recognized,
all-volunteer organization. Browse through our web pages and explore links
(highlighted in yellow) to discover what KWS offers for both members and
non-members alike. You'll find information on upcoming workshops, competitions,
membership, artists and our KWS Gallery, a working gallery and home to the KWS
studio and workshops, located in the heart of beautiful Louisville, Kentucky.

KWS Board for 2016

Sue Hinkebein, Aqueous Chairperson, reported on Nov. 6th, KWS welcomed a delegation of Chinese Artists to our gallery for an exchange
of ideas and techniques of watercolor. They brought 25 beautiful paintings to display in our gallery, gave several wonderful demos and had
hot tea and pumpkin bread. Bryan Warren from the Mayor’s office presented a Proclamation to the delegation stating it was “Chinese
Watercolor Painting Day”  in the city of Louisville. That evening they attended our Aqueous USA Exhibition and displayed their art in the Grand
hall at Actor’s Theatre. The trip was planned by Dongfeng Li, a professor at Morehead University, before he knew he had won top honors in
our exhibition this year for his painting  of “Out of the Darkness, Into the Light”
